Finds of the Fair 8th April 2018

Your Finder of the Fair, Elaine, with Jay.

1950s Burleigh tea set, £28.00, from Blacks:

Love the atomic style, the shape and colours of this tea set, plus I think it'd look great in my vintage kitchen!

1970s green velvet jacket, £28.00, from Value Vintage:

My assistant's Find of the Fair, he loves a good velvet jacket and he doesn't have a green one yet!

1980s Gloria Vanderbilt umbrella, £10.00, from Sheila's Store:

Love a good brolly, adore the beautiful duck shaped handle, so stylish in shape, gorgeous colour and a great paisley print.

Hunters tweed three piece suit, including breeches, £110.00, from Village Vintage Clothing:

Just a stunning, beautifully made, fabulous suit, obviously not the right size for my lovely assistant, but I do know it was purchased by someone I know!

1980s Japanese style alarm clock,  £18.00, from Mrs Morton's Vintage:

A fabulous time piece, quirky, fun, charming and apparently quite annoying in the morning!  Perfect!

Hope you enjoyed your birthday mission, Elaine!  Our fervent thanks for devoting your special day to Finding at our fair, and for doing such a marvellous job!

Many regulars at the Vintage Village will recognise our Finder of the Fair this month - it's the supremely stylish Elaine, ably assisted on the day by her equally stylish other half, Jay.  Take it away, Elaine!

Spending the week days dressed in lycra - no make up and hair in a ponytail as a fitness instructor - means I live for my dress up, hat wearing, vintage lifestyle weekends!

Love attending any vintage event, fair, market, 1940s weekends, rockabilly weekends and also steampunk and Goth! Love all things quirky in my clothing style and my home!

1940s plaid dress, £60.00 from Re-loved:

The prettiest 1940s dress - plaid material, velvet trim, bustle back, full circle skirt - why didn't I buy it?  26inch waist!  I sobbed quietly, so beautiful!

Cats eye yellow lens sunglasses, £10.00, from suzylovesmilo:

Fabulous shape, narrower than other I've seen which made them stand out and they matched my outfit!

1950s beaded evening bag with Bakelite shell effect top, £150.00, from Mary Jones Vintage & Glamour:

Just an item of sheer beauty, the shape, the colour, the shell effect!  Perfect bag!

1950s-60s pickled onion jar, £5.00, from Thingummy Doodah:

My nana had one just like this!  Which now resides in Sydney with my little sister, great memories of the Sunday tea table!

Gin and Tonic Cakepop, £2.50, from Stuart Thornley Cake Design:

It was my birthday, and every birthday girl deserves a cake AND a gin & tonic, and this beautifully combines the two perfectly!

The Water Babies,  £75.00, from Room at the Top:

One of my favourite books as a child, it brought back happy memories of reading and enjoying it in my garden, wishing I was a water baby!
