      | We'll meet again, at . . . The Vintage Village Yanks in Stockport Fair! When: Sunday 8th July 2012, 10.00 am to 4.00 pm Where: Stockport Covered Market Hall How much: £1 entry, under 12s FREE In July 1978 director John Schlesinger arrived in Stockport with a film crew to shoot some location shots around the Market Place. The locale was transformed into a vision of wartime Britain and a then barely known young actor called Richard Gere found himself the star of what has become one of the best-loved films about British life during the Second World War - Yanks. For our Yanks in Stockport Fair we are collaborating with Military Vehicle Trust and WW2Events.co.uk to celebrate this wonderful movie in one of its original locations. And, for the very first time, we will be welcoming photographer Mari-zu Okereke, who will offer a very special photographic portraiture technique which will take you even further back in time than the Second World War: Victorian wet plate collodion photography. You can read more about Mari-zu and his historically authentic process here, but basically it involves exposing a prepared glass plate in a large format camera to produce a unique, one-off image. Have your portrait taken using exactly the same method as your 19th century ancestors may have done! All this, and the usual vintage extravaganza you have come to expect from The Vintage Village, namely (deep breath ...)
