The Vintage Village Mad Hatter's Fair

If you want to get ahead, get down to …

The Vintage Village Mad Hatter’s Fair

When: Sunday 13th November, 10.00am to 4.00pm
Where: Stockport Covered Market Hall SK1 1EU
How much: £2.00 entry, concessions £1.50, under 12s FREE!

Once the leading national centre of the hatting industry in the 19th century, there’s barely a trace of it left in Stockport these days.  Apart from the marvellous and unique Hat Works museum, of course, where you can learn all about the various processes, skills - and dangers! - involved, gasp at the ingenious machinery, and see many and various examples of headwear from helmets to fascinators.

The Hat Works has kindly agreed to send their Roving Atelier to our Mad Hatter’s Fair.  Here’s what they’re planning:

Are you interested in learning the art of millinery?  Would you like to know how to make the hats that defined the key trends of an era?

Visit the Hat Works Roving Atelier to find out about millinery courses at the UK’’s only museum dedicated to hatting –right here in Stockport.

Talk to our Hat Ambassadors - milliners Emma Fozard and Lyndsay Cooper of Pyewacket Millinery - about what they have learned on our courses and see the kind of high class attire you could be creating.  From 1920s cloches to 1950s half-hats, there is a course for every look!

We will have a host of hats and millinery treats available to purchase from our stall at the Vintage Village.

In-house musical entertainment will be provided by that delightful duo, Vintage 78 DJs, who may also have a few vintage treasures for sale.

Suggested dress code: wear your best hat!  In fact, you could win a prize if you do - we’re holding a Hat Competition for the best hat (with vintage ensemble) so style yourself up nicely to be in the running!  Prize presentation will be at 2.30pm-ish.

All this plus the overwhelming plethora of authentic vintage goods for ladies, gentlemen and the home you have come to expect from the award-winning Vintage Village.

And everyone’s favourite multi-award-winning cake baker - Stuart Thornley Cake Design - for those essential sweet treats!
